What does it mean to BE YOU?
At Be You Counseling, I offer an interactive form of psychotherapy that focuses on the total person, recognizing the unity of the mind and body. Together we will bring awareness to your mind-body system and gain insight into who you are now, how you got here, and how these thoughts and feelings support and/or hold you back from speaking, expressing, and creating the life you desire. You will be encouraged to speak honestly about your thoughts and feelings, supported to express authentically those inner experiences that cannot be explained with words, and empowered to create consciously the life you desire. Together we will work to develop a course of treatment that will assist you on your journey as you navigate depressed and anxious feelings, personal and professional relationships, life transitions, traumatic experiences, family planning, and parenting to name a few. I will support you in learning how to LOVE and be LOVED for being YOU.
Darwin states, "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." Starting at birth we are skilled at adapting to the pressures we feel from the family we are born into or have adopted, the friends we make, the partners we select, the culture/race we inherit, and the communities we live within. To survive, we often have to give up our voices, hide our emotions, and forego the process of creating a life that resonates with who we are. Depressed feelings, isolation, anxiety, perfectionism, and hypervigilance are often the result of these survival strategies. As a child, these responses were necessary and life-saving, but as an adult, they can be damaging and prevent us from finding love, happiness, abundance, and a sense of purpose.
You may not have had a choice as a child, but as an adult you do. It is time to move beyond the story that has been given to you, and begin living your life. To learn more, schedule a free consultation. I look forward to hearing from you and learning about what it means to Be You!
